Sugar and Spice - SWEET

Image
Here's a recent layout I did. I used more DCWV Nana's Nursery Paper here as well as off cuts from old projects. I can't really identify many ways I saved on this layout except the use of offcuts from my offcuts folder for the photo mats. I always check that folder for plain coloured papers that match my layouts before I'll use a whole sheet of paper of cardstock. Sometimes I'll just use paper from that folder for the entire layout but mostly those supplies are used to make cardss.

Ella's first tea party

Image
Gotta love those "firsts". This one was so cute. The kids asked if Ella could lay on the floor with them and I said yes only to discover it wasn't just a cuddle they were after but another attendee at their tea party... LOL Sorry I haven't posted in a while ... been busy... you know how it goes. A newborn and then the school drop off and pick up thing and then there's the washing! Added to all that I spent a night up at the hospital with Ella on Sunday as she had five separate chocking episodes and her lips turned blue and everything! We were a bit freaked out about the turning blue so we got the ambulance. They don't really know why she did it... here's hoping it doesn't happen again!

Handmade Valentines Day Cards

Image
Here are a couple of valentines day cards I made really quickly. For this card I used the technique of dry embossing on velum to do the hearts and then cut them out. I stamped the front and inside of the card with this Kaiser stamp and then I used a simple square of silver shiny cardstock and a smaller square of red patterned paper. The hearts were glued down with one using pop dots to raise it up. And finally I used a TLC sticker for the inside of the card. This card was even simpler I just stamped the front of the card with the Kaiser stamp using black ink and then I stamped "Love" using a gold ink and the Inkado stamp. Once this was dry I went back and painted parts of the stamp with gold paint. (sorry for the blurry photos I was in a rush to photograph it before DH saw it. Making cards can be a great way to save money as you can make them out of your scrap supplies. Although I really don't like making a card for someone as a rule as they look at it and then thro

Baby Girl "Pram" Layout

Image
Here's another layout I did... of course it's a baby layout. This is the very first photo of our new daughter and as you can see Ella is covered pretty heavily in goo! My husband called this stuff sunscreen (as it was a very hot day when she arrived) so that her siblings wouldn't be too freaked out about it. I used the technique of paper piecing to create an old fashioned pram to go around this photo as it isn't the prettiest photo. But it is an important one from a memory perspective. Paper piecing is definitely one of the more economical ideas for your scrapbook pages.

Love her to Death!

Image
Here's a photo I just had to share! Darling daughter number 2 is being loved to death by her siblings! They have to cuddle her and kiss her ALL THE TIME! Which isn't such a bad thing but still I feel for her..... sometimes I'm sure the look she gives me says: "Do you see what I have to put up with?" I don't know what to call the layout I do of this photo.... should it be "Sigh" or "Kiss" or ????? Suggestions will be gratefully accepted! And here is her first official baby smiling photo! As you can see she's doing well... gaining weight... in fact she's gone up an entire size and she's only 7 weeks old! I can't wait to scrapbook this latest batch of photos!

Valentines Day Presents?

So have you put your order in for your Valentines Day Present? I have the joy of combining Valentines Day (14th Feb) with my Wedding Anniversary (10th Feb) and getting one big present or opting for two small presents. This year I have combined the two and have put an order in for scrapbooking tools.... Very Romantic I know.... if you're a true scrapaholic like me this does rock your world... if not you'll find it odd...LOL Anyway ... what did I request? Well I've requested two Kaiser Stamps (clear ones) and the acrylic blocks to hold these stamps as well as a fiskars punch (border punch + embossing)..... I'll show you a photo of my goodies when I receive them all! Valentines day is a great opportunity to make a card as it's a way of showing your love. I'd love to see some of your ideas... email me a photo at: cheapscrapbookingideas@yahoo.com and I'll post them up for all to see.

Believe Layout

Image
So of course here's another baby layout.... LOL! I used the DCWV Nana's Nursery Paper Pad again and as the papers are all quite busy I inked the edges of each piece of patterned paper to ensure you could see where one paper started and another ended. I used a Kaiser Rub On for my title (from a Christmas themed pack) and a flower with a jewelled brad to match my colour scheme. The saying: What feeling is so nice as a child's hand in yours? So small, so soft and warm, like a kitten hudling in the shelter of your clasp. Was something I saw in a scrapbooking magazine a few years ago when I was still working in an office... Anyway we had these clear labels for our files and I printed the saying on it then hoping I'd one day find a photo to do it justice and finally I did! (This is the same as what Anne was talking about: using Avery Labels to print titles and journalling). The little metal hand in the bottom right hand corner is from a pack at the thrift store and cost m

Pretty, Precious, Pitter Patter, Peek-a-Boo, P is for:

Here's another baby layout I did. I really wanted to do something special with this photo of DS holding DD2's 1 day old foot in his hand. He is so sweet with her and is fantastic at putting her to sleep. I thought this photo perfectly showcased how tender he is with her and is a memory I wanted to preserve. I again used paper from the DCWV Nana's Nursery Pad. I cut out the deer from this sheet and raised it using pop dots. I did the same with the P. I used a chipboard letter as a template and handcut the letter and raised it on pop dots. The "P is For" circle was cut using my fiskars templates and I stamped the circle and then chalked it for added effect... again using pop dots. Finally I used rub-ons to add interest to the page. My journalling is hand written as I do like to have my handwriting on the pages whenever possible as I know how special I find handwritten things of my mothers' and grandmothers. So the ways I saved on this layout were the handcut

"Star" Layout

Image
Here is a layout I just completed of DD1's dance recital. I used the tickets from the event as the journalling which saved me alot of time either writing or typing and printing. The patterned paper I used for the background is byintrinsic enterprises and is called star dreamer (distributed by scrapbooking australia). This patterned paper also had another sheet with an adele baseer poem and some words on it which I added to the page. I then used chipboard letters which I inked and then painted with clear glitter paint to mirror the effect of the bodice of her outfit..... Cost of layout $2.20. I will often use a patterned paper as my background but when I do so I must add this page to the back of a cardstock (previous) page otherwise the pages are too flimsy.
